Mika Headshot 1

The “Expert Panel”  for Jenn Moran Beauty consists of world-renowned leaders in various fields of beauty and fashion who will share their knowledge and experience with you.  Mika Fowler is recognized as one of the leading celebrity hair stylist in the industry and the first member of the Expert Panel to share her secrets.  Post interesting beauty and fashion questions and I will choose several to be answered by our Expert Panel.

Mika Fowler is respected as one of the elite stylists in Beverly Hills.  Her celebrity clients book her months in advance and include Olivia Munn, Alison Brie, Emma Roberts, Annalynne McCord, Malin Akerman, Rosario Dawson, Cameron Monaghan, and Emanuelle Chriqui among others.

Mika first developed her technique in Japan, a culture which embraces fashion-forward, and later, at Vidal Sassoon.  In Japan’s competitive style society, only exceptional creativity, technique and vision will rise and Mika rose to the top.

Building on her successes in Japan, Mika continued establishing her brand in Beverly Hills where she presented cutting precision rarely seen.  Her inspiration for each hair creation comes directly from the client – the client’s face, style and bone structure are all taken into account prior to the first snip of the sheers.  She specializes in the art of dry cut, a cutting technique she has mastered. Using this technique, Mika is able to take the hair’s natural chemistry, flow and bounce into account to perfectly shape each creation

Get to know Mika.
Q:  Please share, with the viewers, the name of your company, your title and
explain in your own words what you do.
A:  My name is Mika Fowler, and I’m a hair stylist at Kim Vo Salon at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills. My specialty is freestyle dry cutting.

Q:  What aspect(s) of beauty are you most passionate about?

A:  Fashion is really important to me, specifically, the role that hairstyling plays in creating the total look.

Q:  What is your ethnic background?  What specific beauty challenges do you attribute to your ethnicity?

A:  I‘m from Japan, that’s where my career in hairstyling began. When my career took me to America, there was a period of adaptation, where I needed to adjust my techniques for certain kinds of hair. For example, cutting curly hair is very different from cutting straight hair. This is another area where dry cutting was advantageous.

Q:  In the event of an earthquake, what is the first beauty product you would not leave behind?

A:  I think in the event of a natural disaster, I would forget about my hair. I would just want to save my little chihuahua, XX (Dos Equis).

Q:  What is the most secretive beauty tip you ever received?

A:  I think sometimes, people underestimate the value of natural oils to healthy hair. Avocado oil, coconut oil, and even olive oil can all do wonders for your hair if used correctly.
